Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve closing game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
