Do you ever have that itch? The itch to gamble, to head to the closest gambling den, to come across a superior stakes casino game of Hold em, to sit at a Black-jack table for hours on end. I really like that itch. And I love to scratch it.

I also really like to watch folks bet. No two poker faces seem identical. When I bet I like to assume I put on a poker face that’s impassable. Except I know I’ve specific mannerisms. For 1, the only time I smoke cigarettes is when I play poker or Pontoon. And then I chain smoke. Except I chain smoke regardless of whether I am winning or losing, whether or not I have a beneficial hand or bad.

I once bet within a weekly poker game. The game was often 5 card draw. There was a guy who bet with us every single week who usually wore a hat. When he was given a beneficial hand, subconsciously, he would begin touching and betting with his hat. Pointless to say, he by no means won.

The very best poker gambler I ever saw was a guy who produced a lot more movements and signals at a poker table than anyone I had ever seen. He was flawless in the way he dressed. Generally an pricey suit and tie, boots shined and nails manicured. He was fastidious in this manner. And he was often brushing his pant leg or holding his hands or putting his chips in tidy little piles.

I use to analyze him for long periods of time. I would tried to see if I could spot his tell. Selecting lint off his vest- did this mean he was bluffing? Stacking his chips in a short pile – did this mean he had a beneficial hand?

Years later I bumped into him within a bar in Boston and we had a drink. I asked him if he had been aware of all those actions he made or if they have been subconscious. He informed me that every individual thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everyone is often checking out everyone else’s poker face. They are trying to spot the the tell.

So his program was to provide them lots to assume about. His reasoning was if they have been pondering about him choosing a piece of fuzz off his coat and what it meant they certain were not pondering about their cards.

His technique was diversion. And it worked for him. By no means give up a technique that operates for you.
