Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
