Howard Lederer lived in a family of five in which he enjoyed betting on different card games at a young age. The actual improvement in his skills began when he started playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable players would often wager against each other. Howard had access into some of the greatest minds in chess. He also helped his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. She was a great student of poker as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct choice. He told Annie to move out to Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker competition. She is one of the best women players the poker arena has ever seen. Howard Lederer headed to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and participated in cash games for the next 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, he decided to participate in more tournaments.
