Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
