NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
